This book presents a coherent state-of-the-art survey on the area of systematic and cognitive musicology which has enjoyed dynamic growth now for many years. Informatie- en communicatietechnologie (ICT) speelt een belangrijke rol in onze samenleving. De voordelen van ICT zijn talrijk, maar het is duidelijk dat er ook schaduwkanten zijn die uitnodigen tot maatschappelijke discussie, persoonlijke reflectie en waakzaamheid. Dit boek behandelt de belangrijkste kwesties betreffende ICT en privacy, ICT en auteursrecht, computermisdaad, informatie op het internet, de invloed van ICT op werk, school en samenleving, en de ontwikkeling van informatiesystemen. De lezer wordt voortdurend uitgenodigd om zelf mee na te denken, door verwijzingen naar de actualiteit, cases, denkvragen en praktijkgerichte onderzoeksopdrachten bij elk hoofdstuk. Waar nodig wordt stilgestaan bij wetgeving en reglementering. Technische onderwerpen worden nader toegelicht in aparte kaderstukken en bij elk hoofdstuk is ook een filosofische beschouwing gevoegd. Op systematische wijze worden in opeenvolgende hoofdstukken de volgende onderwerpen belicht: - ICT en privacy; - ICT en auteursrecht; - computermisdaad; - het internet als informatiebron; - diverse andere aspecten verbonden met ICT op het werk; - in de samenleving en het onderwijs; - en de ontwikkeling van informatiesystemen. Verspreid over het boek zijn aparte technische toelichtingen opgenomen. Na elk hoofdstuk volgt een filosofische reflectie op de inhoud van dat hoofdstuk. Ten slotte vindt u enkele korte intermezzo´s over specifieke onderwerpen in samenwerking met experts ter zake. Bij elk hoofdstuk zijn denkvragen en onderzoeksopdrachten opgenomen die uitnodigen tot persoonlijke reflectie en actie. U kan zelf kiezen welke hij behandelt, in welke volgorde en met welke diepgang. Ook de referentielijst in de appendix en de websites die in de tekst zijn vermeld, kunnen hulp bieden bij verdere studie en onderzoek.
