The field of 'Craft Sciences' refers to research conducted across and within different craft subjects and academic contexts. This anthology aims to expose the breadth of topics, source material, methods, perspectives, and results that reside in this field, and to explore what unites the research in such diverse contexts as, for example, the arts, conservation, or vocational craft education. The common thread between each of the chapters in the present book is the augmented attention given to methods-the craft research methods-and to the relationship between the field of inquiry and the field of practice. A common feature is that practice plays an instrumental role in the research found within the chapters, and that the researchers in this publication are also practitioners. The authors are researchers but they are also potters, waiters, carpenters, gardeners, textile artists, boat builders, smiths, building conservators, painting restorers, furniture designers, illustrators, and media designers. The researchers contribute from different research fields, like craft education, meal sciences, and conservation crafts, and from particular craft subjects, like boat-building and weaving. The main contribution of this book is that it collects together a number of related case studies and presents a reflection on concepts, perspectives, and methods in the general fields of craft research from the point of view of craft practitioners. It adds to the existing academic discussion of crafts through its wider acknowledgement of craftsmanship and extends its borders and its discourse outside the arts and crafts context. This book provides a platform from which to develop context-appropriate research strategies and to associate with the Craft Sciences beyond the borders of faculties and disciplines.

In 2023, Economies celebrates its 10th anniversary. Thanks to the incredible support from all of you, the journal has developed into a well-respected academic journal. Economies has been included in several journal rankings, has a decent and growing number of submissions by well-known experts, and obtains very satisfactory citation scores given its young age. We acknowledge these achievements with a dedicated Special Issue. Therefore, researchers from all areas of economic research have been invited to submit their contributions to this Special Issue. The Special Issue is titled "Recent Topics in Economic Research" and covers a broad range of topics that are currently at the forefront of economics research and that are within Economies' scope. This includes original research papers as well as comprehensive review papers on topics of actual importance in economics.

El mundo ha avanzado con la llegada de la ciencia y tecnología desde los diversos campos que la conforman con una visión de innovación involucrando a la sociedad y así satisfacer las necesidades que se han convertido en una problemática para el campo científico. El camino para llegar a un concepto de ciudades inteligentes, por ejemplo, puede conjugar varias aistas que dan cuenta de un aporte de diversas competencias y destrezas por parte de la comunidad científica. De esta manera, podemos encontrar aportes de redes eléctricas inteligentes, servicios de comunicación masiva, aprovechamiento de los recursos hídricos, análisis de ondas sísmicas, manejo de datos en la nube o la interpretación de imagen para aplicaciones médicas, cumpliendo así una vasta demanda de oportunidades para la generación de nuevo conocimiento que aplica la ciencia y tecnología en favor de la sociedad.

A obra Letramento Estético na EJA e na Educação do Campo, originada a partir de um estudo de doutoramento realizado no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação, da Faculdade de Filosofia e Ciências da UNESP, câmpus de Marília, estado de São Paulo, apresenta um experimento didático-formativo desenvolvido com jovens e adultos camponeses. Baseada na teoria Histórico-Cultural, esta pesquisa revela que o termo letramento aponta para um conjunto de práticas sociais no contexto da cultura escrita nos quais os sujeitos podem se engajar. Na compreensão do autor, o letramento estético é um bem cultural a que crianças, jovens e adultos têm inalienável direito, e a escola e a universidade têm o dever de atentar para o desenvolvimento de uma proposta didática voltada à aproximação do leitor com o texto. Diante disso, considera-se que não se pode mais adiar a perspectiva da ciência em geral, da arte e da cultura como componentes de letramento com jovens e adultos. O autor destaca também a importância do letramento estético para a tomada de consciência acerca da realidade na qual o sujeito se insere e para a compreensão do papel da atividade criadora para a constituição da personalidade humana. A rigor, este estudo traz consequências para a organização do trabalho de produção de textos na Educação do Campo, em particular, e na educação em geral. Portanto, esperamos que esta obra possa ampliar estudos e debates acerca da educação do campo, artes, novos estudos de letramento e Educação de Jovens e Adultos, bem como na formação de educadores e educadoras para o meio rural. With its expert seminars for alumnis abroad the Georg-August-University Göttingen wants to strengthen its contact with the alumni in the long term and create a global network. This volume is the result of a seminar on "Germany and the Wende (Change) in Literature, Language and Media". The participants were scientists, writers and filmmakers with their own views on contemporary German history and the reunification as well as alumni from China, Japan and Korea who are involved in their home countries in the dissemination of German language and culture. The seminar and the title discuss a specifically German experience, the reunification ("Die Wende") as central theme which also has an actual and high relevance in Korea and China.
