Die im vorliegenden Band versammelten Beiträge gehen aus der Sektion" Historische Pragmatik und historische Varietätenlinguistik. Wissenschaftspraxis und Methodologie - Divergenzen und Konvergenzen"hervor, die am 29. und 30. September 2003 auf dem XXVIII. Deutschen Romanistentag in Kiel stattfand. Konzeption und Planung dieser Sektion waren getragen von der Einsicht, dass historische Pragmatik und historische Varietätenlinguistik in ihren Objekten und Methoden zahlreiche Berührungspunkte und Überschneidungen aufweisen, sich aber institutionell und in ihren Forschungstraditionen auf recht unterschiedlichen Wegen entwickelt haben. Vor diesem Hintergrund haben die Beiträge der Sektion zum Ziel, Konvergenzen und Divergenzen der beiden Disziplinen im Rahmen eines reflektierten Dialogs zu benennen und zu kommentieren. Besonderes Augenmerk wurde für dieses Unterfangen auf die enge Verzahnung von Wissenschaftspraxis und Methodologie gelegt.

A pesar de la relevancia que ha cobrado durante los últimos años el estudio de la "estructura informativa", hay a la fecha relativamente pocos volúmenes dedicados al tema disponibles para el público de lengua española. En particular, existe un nicho no explotado de estudios escritos en español, sobre el español pero que examinen también lenguas minoritarias. Con este volumen colectivo se pretende: (i) acercar el estudio de la interfaz sintaxis-pragmática desde perspectivas tipológicas al público de habla española. (ii) dar énfasis a enfoques de corte funcionalista, basados en la descripción de discurso natural, e independientes de las categorías y formalizaciones de modelos gramaticales particulares; (iii) extender el estudio de la interfaz sintaxis-pragmática más allá de la articulación oracional en tópico/foco para incluir estudios ligados a la continuidad tópica, al modelo de la Estructura Argumental Preferida, y otros. (iii) reunir investigaciones originales sobre interfaz sintaxis-pragmática, consolidando los estudios que desde esta área se dedican al español pero también apoyando el desarrollo de aquellos ligados a lenguas minoritarias de América. Privileging functionalist approaches-based on descriptions of natural discourse and independent from formal grammatical models-, this collected volume gathers original contributions on the syntax-pragmatics interface in Spanish as well as in indigenous languages of the Americas, and explores related topics like topical continuity or Preferred Argument Structure.

Depuis longtemps le couple-titre, cohésion et cohérence, cristallise les enjeux clés de la linguistique textuelle. En illustrant le caractère opératoire et l’articulation de ces notions, on donne la meilleure des visibilités au champ qui fait de la linguistique textuelle une discipline reconnaissable au-delà de la pure syntaxe, et en deçà de l’analyse du discours. Analyses d’exemples à l’appui, cet ouvrage, issu d’une réflexion collective et pluridisciplinaire de l’équipe Linguistique et pragmatique des textes (UMR 6039, CNRS et Université de Nice), s’est donné pour but de dégager quelques repères dans ce champ. En effet, les notions de cohésion et de cohérence ne vont pas de soi. Mais plutôt que d’apporter une énième contribution à des débats théoriques, les auteurs ont délibérément choisi de raisonner sur pièces. C’est en réfléchissant sur des faits observables dans des textes existants, incarnés par une langue à une époque donnée et conditionnés par leurs codes génériques, qu’ils ont voulu dégager la pertinence de la distinction des concepts, et de leur hiérarchie. Du niveau local au niveau global de la textualisation, ce parti pris les a conduits à sélectionner des points particulièrement sensibles, offrant ainsi au lecteur de véritables travaux pratiques de linguistique textuelle. The twin concepts of cohesion and coherence have, for a long time, crystallised the key issues of text linguistics. By illustrating the way in which these notions work and are articulated, we put under the spotlight this field which makes textual linguistics a recognisable discipline between pure syntax and discourse analysis. Illustrated by analysed examples, this volume, which represents the result of collective and multidisciplinary reflection by the Linguistics and text pragmatics research team (UMR 6039, CNRS and the University of Nice), aims to identify some landmark work in this field. This synchronic study presents a new onomasiological, frame-theoretical model for the description, classification and theoretical analysis of the cross-linguistic content category aspectuality. It deals specifically with those pieces of information, which, in their interplay, constitute the aspectual value of states of affairs. The focus is on Romance Languages, although the model can be applied just as well to other languages, in that it is underpinned by a principle grounded in a fundamental cognitive ability: the delimitation principle. Unlike traditional approaches, which generally have a semasiological orientation and strictly adhere to a semantic differentiation between grammatical aspect and lexical aspect (Aktionsart), this study makes no such differentiation and understands these as merely different formal realisations of one and the same content category: aspectuality.

Conversation in the theatrical break is traditionally associated with the ideal of a public which, inspired by the previous stage experience, rhetorically skillfully communicates about aesthetic and socio-political issues. On the other hand, it is assumed from a critical perspective that such conversations primarily served social distinction, with a banal content. This study empirically reconstructs the practices characteristic of such situations between art communication and recreation, sociability and informal learning on a conversational basis.
