Abstract

Tourism is a driving sector of the world economy. Tourist activities interact directly with the economic, social and ecosystemic dimension of the territories, producing intense territorial relationships characterised by a strong local-global link. To deal with the intrinsic complexity of each territorial analysis, a multiscalar (local, regional, national, European, global), multitemporal (long, medium, short term) and multidimensional (economic, social, environmental) study methodology has been chosen. The common thread runs around the examination of a pioneering tourist destination whose history has been intertwined with the birth and expansion of tourism: Montecatini Terme. The aim is to outline a tourism specialisation model starting from the territorial relationships that have marked its history, landscape, culture and oriented economic development. A model that has evolved, partly anticipating and partly following global and European dynamics.

Abstract

This book presents some information regarding adhesives which have applications in industry, medicine and dentistry. The book is divided into two parts: ""Adhesives Applications in Medicine and Dentistry"" and ""Properties of Adhesive."" The aim of such a presentation is to present the usage in very different aspects of application of the adhesives and present specific properties of adhesives. Adhesives' advantageous properties and relatively uncomplicated processing methods contribute to their increasing application and their growing popularity in the industry, medicine and other branches. Some adhesives represent properties superior to those of most adhesive materials, due to their excellent adhesion and chemical resistance. A wide variety of adhesives' considerable flexibility in modification of properties of adhesives allows adjusting the composition to particular applications.

Abstract

Organic photovoltaic is an attractive technology to solve future energy supply scenarios. To further increase the potential of this technology novel absorber materials and interface materials have to be developed. In this work the paramount importance of interface materials for efficient as well as stable organic photovoltaic cells and modules is demonstrated. The general requirements of interface materials are elaborated and properties of a novel interface material which meets the demands are investigated experimentally and by simulations.

Abstract

Hot stamping is a hot drawing process which takes advantage of the polymorphic steel behavior to produce parts with a good strength-to-weight ratio. For the simulation of the hot stamping process, a nonlinear two-scale thermomechanical model is suggested and implemented into the FE tool ABAQUS. Phase transformation and transformation induced plasticity effects are taken into account. The simulation results regarding the final shape and residual stresses are compared to experimental findings.

Abstract

Inspired by superhydrophobic leaves of water plants, a flexible superhydrophobic self-cleaning, transparent thin polymeric nanofur film was fabricated through highly scalable hot embossing and hot pulling techniques. Nanofur can retain an air film underwater, whose stability against external stimuli such as high pressure and movement through fluids is investigated. Additionally, the optical properties of nanofur are investigated and exploited to enhance the efficiency of optoelectronic devices.

Abstract

There is growing interest in light metallic alloys for a wide number of applications owing to their processing efficiency, processability, long service life, and environmental sustainability. Aluminum, magnesium, and titanium alloys are addressed in this Special Issue, however, the predominant role played by aluminum. The collection of papers published here covers a wide range of topics that generally characterize the performance of the alloys after manufacturing by conventional and innovative processing routes.
