Implant dentistry has changed and enhanced significantly since the introduction of osseointegration concept with dental implants. Because the benefits of therapy became apparent, implant treatment earned a widespread acceptance. Therefore, the need for dental implants has caused a rapid expansion of the market worldwide. Dental implantology continues to excel with the developments of new surgical and prosthodontic techniques, and armamentarium. The purpose of this book named Current Concepts in Dental Implantology is to present a novel resource for dentists who want to replace missing teeth with dental implants. It is a carefully organized book, which blends basic science, clinical experience, and current and future concepts. This book includes ten chapters and our aim is to provide a valuable source for dental students, post-graduate residents and clinicians who want to know more about dental implants.

Periodontology explores the molecular status in periodontal disease. Optical devices in the diagnosis and management of the disease are also discussed. The book addresses the role of the oral healthcare provider in interprofessional communication in the systemic management of autoimmune bullous disease-associated conditions. A study involving chemically modified tetracyclines and host modulation with nonsurgical and surgical periodontal therapy, including postoperative pain management, is presented here. Therapeutic strategies of stem cell application in bone tissue engineering and the potential of platelet-rich fibrin-sourced growth factors in periodontal procedures to enhance wound healing and regeneration are also proposed. Supportive implant maintenance and regenerative processes are explored. Management of the endoperiodontal lesion is also discussed (note: the recent periodontal classification has not been referenced here). The book explores the best transdisciplinary practices for the management of special healthcare needs patients.

Implant dentistry has come a long way since Dr. Branemark introduced the osseointegration concept with endosseous implants. The use of dental implants has increased exponentially in the last three decades. As implant treatment became more predictable, the benefits of therapy became evident. The demand for dental implants has fueled a rapid expansion of the market. Presently, general dentists and a variety of specialists offer implants as a solution to partial and complete edentulism. Implant dentistry continues to evolve and expand with the development of new surgical and prosthodontic techniques. The aim of Implant Dentistry - A Rapidly Evolving Practice, is to provide a contemporary clinic resource for dentists who want to replace missing teeth with dental implants. It is a text that relates one chapter to every other chapter and integrates common threads among science, clinical experience and future concepts. This book consists of 23 chapters divided into five sections. We believe that, Implant Dentistry: A Rapidly Evolving Practice, will be a valuable source for dental students, post-graduate residents, general dentists and specialists who want to know more about dental implants.

The discipline of dental implantology is one of the scientific medical/dental fields that are moving dynamically very fast. Not to mention the multiple specialties involved in managing the service as well as the research production. As much as it is necessary to have books to review the basics of bone healing, cellular biology, and implant rehabilitation planning, it is very critical to have more focused books to link the dots and elevate the benchmark of success even higher, especially when facing the reality of more advanced case challenges nowadays. ''Dental Implantology and Biomaterial'' presents four main sections covering topics of clinically applied ''tips and tricks'', the reality of transmucosal implant surface, the future of ceramic implants, the revolution of implant surface treatment, and finally the application of nonautogenous graft in the treatment process. The aim is updating the practitioners, researchers, and postgraduate trainees in the field with up-to-date clinically applied topics focused on reducing the gap between research and clinical application. Doing so will not only optimize the practice but also advance it with evidence-based maneuvers and technical details.

The aim of An Update in Dental Implantology and Biomaterial is to continue the challenge of reconstruction and implantology into another volume with unique updates. As a surgeon who is usually asked to accomplish the reconstructive skeleton of the rehabilitation plan, questions like ""Doc, I am in a hurry, how fast can you finish the treatment?"" are becoming very common in practice these days. This phenomenon goes hand in hand with people's current lifestyles. Another challenge is the inapplicable prosthetic plan due to the difficulty at the patient side or the surgical intervention side. The advancement in reconstruction is appreciated, but apparently it has not reached the limit of placing the factors of cost, time, and invasiveness into one location. I believe that cases should be treated and rehabilitated as soon as possible, with reasonable cost and feasible technicality, so that clients can focus on their daily lives. With this book I am honored to present a homogeneous gathering of literature on implantology, elaborated with up-to-date techniques of grafting, the improvement of anterior aesthetics, and answers to questions concerning postoperative implant complications and microbiota care.

An amputee patient is a patient who has lost not only a part of his body but also the annexed function. The loss of an eye, an arm, or a dental element entails a loss of function reflected in a systemic adaptation by the organism to compensate for it. Moreover, it is reflected in important psychological consequences. The purpose of this Special Issue is to collect as many articles and information about new rehabilitation techniques in the biomedical and bioengineering field as possible. In all organism districts, the focus is on the innovation of a certain material or a specific technique without neglecting the influence on a patient’s quality of life.

Oral, periodontal diseases, chewing disorders, and many destructive inflammatory diseases of the supporting tissues of the teeth are caused by an imbalance between the host defense and environmental factors like bacteria, smoking, and poor nutrition. For these reasons, the focus should not only be on plaque control and removal of bacteria but also on improving host resistance through smoking abstention, stress reduction, and a healthy diet. The importance of micronutrients has been extensively reviewed, and it was concluded that prevention and treatment of periodontitis daily nutrition should include sufficient antioxidants, probiotics, natural agents, vitamin D, and calcium. Regarding antioxidants, vitamin C has attracted the attention of periodontal researchers. To date, there is limited available research investigating the effect of diet supplementation on the oral and periodontal condition.
