This book presents the results of the action-research "Supporting the job placement of vulnerable members of the disabled in the Province of Bolzano", promoted and financed by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano under its Operational Program of the European Social Fund 2007-2013, Objective Employment and Competitiveness. The study was conducted by the social cooperative Independent L. Onlus and the company Laboratorio per Sviluppo Economico Regionale Srl (LaSER), and saw the commitment of a research group composed by Alessandro Ceredi (with operational coordination functions), Francesco Gagliardi and Stefano Boffo (with tasks of scientific supervision), Heide Ulrike Avi, Davide Baldassari, Enzo Dellantonio, Thomas Emmenegger, Monica Fontana, Sandra Funaro, Daniela Gallegati, Lorella Molteni, Cristina Oteri, Barbara Pietrini, Francesco Pirone, Alexandra Prast, Priscilla Ritter, Marina Setti. The research was monitored and periodically evaluated by a scientific committee composed of Antonio Sebastiani, Mauro Chiarel and Lorenzo Torresini.

Scientists and clinicians interested in cerebrovascular physiology in humans now have numerous possibilities to monitor, invasively or non-invasively, the oxygenation status of cerebral tissue. Monitoring cerebral oxygenation has several utilities; to improve patient outcome, to better understand the mechanisms underlying orthostatic hypotension; to provide insight into functional neurovascular coupling; to evaluate the influence of vasopressors on cerebral oxygen levels in patients under anesthesia; and to study the limitations of exercise tolerance. This themed research topic, through theoretical and experimental papers, covers new and exciting issues related to the study of cerebral oxygenation in health and disease. This e-book includes manuscripts inclusive of original research, methodologies and reviews in the field of integrative physiology, cognitive testing, orthostatic stress, exercise physiology and anesthesia.

This book focuses on recent advances in genetic resources, host - pathogen interactions, assay methods, mechanisms of pathogenesis, and disease resistance. Environmentally benign crop protection methods for major rice diseases such as rice blast, sheath blight, bacterial blight, and newly emerged rice diseases such as false smut and bacterial panicle blight disease are included. The content also contains recent rice breeding methods for higher yield and improved disease resistance, rice processing, delicious rice recipes, and food safety. The book includes a comprehensive understanding of Bacillus thuringiensis toxin and its application for crop protection. Holistically, the book demonstrates successful applications of genomics, physiology, chemistry, genetics, pathology, soil science, and food technology to sustainably protect rice crops for global food safety.

Educational and enlightening work on the most varied dietary distortions that lead the individual to nutritional imbalance. It was developed with the purpose of providing improvement in the attendance of nutrition outpatient clinics, helping not only the understanding of the instructions provided to patients or their caregivers, but to students (training professionals) and other health professionals. Work of broad interest to society in general.
