Fundamentals of Power Semiconductor Devices provides an in-depth treatment of the physics of operation of power semiconductor devices that are commonly used by the power electronics industry. Analytical models for explaining the operation of all power semiconductor devices are developed. The treatment focuses on silicon devices but includes the unique attributes and design requirements for emerging silicon carbide devices. Drawing upon years of practical experience and using numerous examples and illustrative applications, B. Jayant Baliga discusses: Numerical simulation examples to elucidate the operating physics and validate the models Device performance attributes that allow practicing engineers in the industry to develop products Treatment of all types of power rectifiers and transistors to create a comprehensive reference in the field Fundamentals of Power Semiconductor Devices will be of interest to practicing engineers in the power semiconductor device community and can also serve as an ideal textbook for teaching courses on power semiconductor devices due to the extensive analytical treatment provided for all device structures.

Analog design at ultra-low supply voltages is an important challenge for the semiconductor research community and industry. Analog Circuit Design Techniques at 0.5V covers challenges for the design of MOS analog and RF circuits at a 0.5V power supply voltage. All design techniques presented are true low voltage techniques - all nodes in the circuits are within the power supply rails. The circuit implementations of body and gate input fully differential amplifiers are also discussed. These building blocks enable us to build continuous-time filters, track-and-hold circuits, and continuous-time sigma delta modulators. Current books on low voltage analog design typically cover techniques for supply voltages down to approximately 1V. This book presents novel ideas and results for operation from much lower supply voltages and the techniques presented are basic circuit techniques that are widely applicable beyond the scope of the presented examples. Analog Circuit Design Techniques at 0.5V is written for analog circuit designers and researchers as well as graduate students studying semiconductors and integrated circuit design.

An important consideration for energy-efficient buildings is their primary energy requirements over the entire life cycle. How to determine this? What integrative factors influence the performance of a healthy and sustainable building? This, while it may be important for clients and architects to know, is frequently not very transparent. This book has been written to assist with clarifying target criteria and expanding horizons when it comes to ecological buildings. It is meant as a handbook and source of reference for clients, architects, planners and building operators, to provide them with pertinent information about their design, construction and operation: how to do this in the most energy-efficient and economical manner? Also, there is feedback and documentation about prominent buildings like the Hamburg Dockland or the Landesbank Baden-Wuerttemberg in Stuttgart. They provide excellent architectural examples for detailed construction and design solutions. Further, there are insightful interviews with architects and clients about many important buildings, which help turn this book into an integrated source of reference for sustainable architecture.- A Guideline for Planning, Construction and Operation of sustainable Buildings- A source of reference for clients, architects, planners and building operators- Innovative architectural examples with sustainable concepts and design
