The Handbook provides both philosophical and practical foundations for using mixed methods in social science inquiry. Theory about mixing methods is nicely balanced and illustrated with concrete examples. All aspects of inquiry are covered from conceptualizing research to selecting methods, analyzing and interpreting data, and reporting findings. The Handbook offers the most comprehensive review of mixed methods available anywhere. It will be a definitive reference for a long time to come." "The Handbook contains a nice mix of internationally-recognized researchers as well as some whose names I saw for the first time . . . I think this mixture lends the book strength as it provides a diversity of perspectives." --GERALD K. LETENDRE, Penn State University The Handbook of Mixed Methods in Social & Behavioral Research contains a gold mine of articles by leading scholars on what has come to be known as the third methodological movement in social research. Aimed at surveying the differing viewpoints and disciplinary approaches of mixed methods, this breakthrough book examines mixed methods from the research enterprise to paradigmatic issues to application. The book also discusses the strengths and weaknesses of mixed methods designs, and provides an array of specific examples in a variety of disciplines, from psychology to nursing. The book closes with a brief section on how to teach and perform collaborative research using a mixed methods research design. Written so that it can be used either as a pedagogical tool or as a reference for researchers, the book is rich in examples and includes a glossary, easy-to-follow diagrams, and tables to help readers become more familiar with the language and controversies in this evolving area. "The contributors to this handbook have a broad range of expertise in the area of mixed methods research. They offer broad and diverse points of view on the topic of multi-methods research and offer engaging and controversial points of

Bron : http://www.businesscontact.nl

"In APA Style Simplified, experienced teacher and writer Bernard C. Beins guides young scholars through the labyrinth of APA style. He highlights the major elements of APA style and shows how to generate a coherent manuscript. Beins also explores how to develop ideas, connect them to what others have written, and express them in a style that reflects a sophisticated knowledge of the subject area. In addition, he features a sample manuscript showing common deviations from APA style, and how to correct these problems. An essential resource for those working on research papers, dissertations, and manuscripts within relevant subject areas, APA Style Simplified is a compact but comprehensive guide to writing clearly and effectively"-- "This is a compact but comprehensive guide to writing clearly and effectively in APA style. Process-tracing in social science is a method for studying causal mechanisms linking causes with outcomes. This enables the researcher to make strong inferences about how a cause (or set of causes) contributes to producing an outcome. In this extensively revised and updated edition, Derek Beach and Rasmus Brun Pedersen introduce a refined definition of process-tracing, differentiating it into four distinct variants and explaining the applications and limitations of each. The authors develop the underlying logic of process-tracing, including how one should understand causal mechanisms and how Bayesian logic enables strong within-case inferences. They provide instructions for identifying the variant of process-tracing most appropriate for the research question at hand and a set of guidelines for each stage of the research process.(https://www.press.umich.edu/10072208/process_tracing_methods)
