Born in Antwerp he was a precocious talent, rising swiftly to become the chief assistant to Peter Paul Rubens, then Northern Europe's most prominent painter. Ce livre est publié à l’occasion de l’exposition Van Dyck au Koninklijk Muséum voor Schone Kunsten à Anvers et à la Royal Academy of Arts à Londres - la plus grande rétrospective consacrée à l’artiste jusqu’à présent.
