Indo-Iranian Journal, founded in 1957, publishes papers on ancient and medieval Indian languages, literature, philosophy, and religion; ancient and medieval Iran; and papers on Tibet. Archaeological and specific historical studies, however, are normally excluded. In recent issues there are linguistic articles on Sanskrit, Middel Indian (Prakrit), New-Indo-Aryan, on Munda linguistics (including the results of field-work), old and modern Dravidian languages (including new material on little-known Central Dravidian languages).
