The purpose of this thesis is to explain precisely the implementation of an operational risk management framework in the context of Pure Capital SA, a mid-sized management company active in the wealth management, investments funds and Manco services. To this regard, the report contains partly a theoretical and academic approach on operational risk management in the financial industry. From the regulatory approach of minimum operational risk capital induced by Basel Agreements to the practical methods including RCSA or scenario analysis for the assessment of operational risks, the dissertation covers the best practices regarding the subject in the financial industry. Moreover, a detailed analysis containing the different steps of the implementation of the project is provided. The project led to the production of a matrix that takes into account the main functions of any operational risk management system: identification, assessment, control, monitoring and reporting of operational risks. In order to achieve this task, I used RCSA scoring methods and scenarios analyses during risk-based interviews for each department. The results of this internal analysis are reported in operational risk factsheets for every department. In addition to the matrix, the mission resulted in the development of an operational risk database where operational incidents including operational losses, near miss events and unintentional gains are reported. A detailed internal procedure has been established for the reporting of an operational incident. Finally, this thesis contains a reflective analysis on a key aspect of operational risk management highlighted by the COVID-19 crisis during which this project was carried out: Business Continuity Management. Thanks to the implementation of these tools, Pure Capital can demonstrate to its regulatory supervisor and its stakeholders appropriate operational risk management among its activities.

This study investigates the relationship between Enterprise Risk Management and firm performance in underdeveloped market like Morocco. Our sample is composed of non-financial listed companies on the Casablanca Stock Exchange. The research supports two main assumptions, the first is Enterprise Risk Management components affect positively firm performance when taken separately. The second combines all the components of an ERM system and assess their effect on Moroccan firms. This paper includes a literature review of Enterprise Risk Management and presents the major empirical results about the subject. It also highlights the specifications of the Moroccan Stock Exchange through a scientific contextualization. Thanks to these two main segments, this paper offers a consistent study for evaluating ERM and performance in an Emerging Market. The empirical model followed in this paper is the first, to the best of our knowledge, in Morocco. The positive causality between ERM and performance, even though it can be challenged based on the limitations present in the conclusion of the work, remains an important piece of evidence for further studies.

In today's society, family businesses are the driving force of European economies. Long-term ambition, legacy and innovation are key words to describe them. When the time comes to hand over the business to the future owners, the thorny issue of transmission arises. This challenge leads too often to failure as 30% of family businesses come over the process according to the European Family Business Federation. Being aware of this problematic, Arkus Financial Services decided to tackle the issue of transmission, as well as succession in family owned businesses as part of the overall Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework. We attempt in the project-thesis to address the key obstacles that may jeopardize the transfer of the ownership and the transfer of the management and to fill this breach by developing a resilience assessment system focusing on enterprise-wide risks. The project-thesis begins with a review of the context in which the project is conducted. A description of the project management approach used is also discussed. Next, a literature review is performed. The aim of the literature review is to apprehend the dynamic between the family and the business, the challenges encountered by entrepreneurs during succession and transmission, the meaning of resilience, risk management, and the ERM methodology. Based on the literature review, we detail the steps necessary for the development and implementation of the resilience assessment system. The developed approach is formalized and implemented into calculation engines supported by a practical example. The conclusions of the thesis will be drawn through recommendations and the future perspectives of the project.
