Achter elk cijfer in de perinatale-sterftestatistieken schuilt een persoonlijke familietragedie. In dit boek wordt het probleem beschreven in een maatschappelijke context. Er wordt ingegaan op de beleving van perinataal sterven en op hoe men mensen in zo een situaties kan opvangen. Alle onderzoeken die reeds zijn verricht en de resultaten van diverse eigen onderzoeken worden beschreven. Vanuit eigen onderzoek krijgt men zicht op de opvang die ouders hebben ervaren, maar ook op de opvang die ouders en hulpverleners wenselijk vinden.
