The 2015 migration crisis challenged the EU's status as a major human rights actor and its capacity to implement its ambitious human rights policies. In analyzing its ability to implement Directive 2011/36/EU on the prevention of trafficking in human beings, this study seeks to analyze how humanitarian crises shape the EU's human rights policy application and legitimacy as a whole.
