In 'De wereld in één seconde' wordt de tijd stilgezet. Het concept is even eenvoudig als origineel: in woord, maar vooral in beeld toont het boek wat er in één enkele seconde op de hele wereld gebeurt. Kleine, uit het leven gegrepen gebeurtenissen, zoals een sinaasappel die uit een boom valt, een jongen die leert fietsen of een auto die in de file staat, worden afgewisseld met spannende, niet-alledaagse situaties: een lift blokkeert, een schip vecht tegen de storm, honden voelen een aardbeving. De gedetailleerde illustraties spreiden zich uit over de dubbele bladspiegel terwijl de tekst zich tot één zin beperkt. Achteraan het boek vind je een wereldkaart, waar per pagina de plaats en het tijdstip aangeduid staan. In 2013 en 2014 bundelde het project O Mundo een twintigtal anderstalige prentenboeken uit verschillende landen om de wereld binnen te brengen in multiculturele klassen. Daarbij werden les- en verwerkingstips voor leerkrachten ontwikkeld, maar ook tips rond meertalige voorleesuurtjes voor bibmedewerkers. De website van O Mundo werd in 2022 offline gehaald, maar alle ondersteunende middelen kan je raadplegen op de website van Iedereen leest.

The need to establish material cycles in the building industry is undisputed. Knowledge on this topic is available in many places: In this book it is summarised and systematized. After a general overview of the quantities generated, recovery rates and areas of application of recycled building materials, the current processing steps on which recycling is based and the possibilities for influencing the product properties are discussed. Furthermore, recycling building materials are characterized and their fields of application are presented. The starting point is always the original building material, which is later found in the construction waste. The focus is on the structural properties. The environmental aspects, which have determined the discussion for years, are shown to the necessary extent. The book concludes with a chapter that presents new developments in processing technologies and analyses the potential of construction waste as a source of raw materials. Anette Müller from 1995 to 2011 held the Chair of Preparation of Building Materials and Recycling at the Bauhaus University Weimar. Since April 2011 she is an employee of IAB - Institut für Angewandte Bauforschung Weimar gGmbH with a focus on building material recycling. Dr. Isabel Martins Researcher at Materials Department of Laboratório Nacional de Engenharia Civil, since 2003 devote her time to study building materials recovery and its further use towards improving resource efficiency in the construction sector.
