The cure of gastric acidity disorders by "classics antacids" has some limits, such as their duration of action, their side effects and their interactions. Plants are often use in the treatment of dyspepsia characterized by heartbums, with or without gastro-esophageal backward flow, but should be considered as a supplement solution (apart from already known use of polysaccharide in combination with salts). Indeed, it is important to note that plants should not be literally defined as antacids. Severa) firms, such Abaca® and Ortis®, have already understood their interests, and have sold complexes. Licorice, matricaria, marshmallow, aloe and ginger, as well as algae, such as lithothamnion, bladderwrack and carragheen are often mentioned in the literature. For the last two, the mode of action is based on the properties of the mucilaginou s polysaccharides to form a protective film on the gastric mucosa leading to scarring under the beneficent layer. Lithothamnion has a neutralizing action, and ginger an inhibitive action of gastric secretion. Matricaria, for its part, is essentially known for its anti-inflammatory activity due to its essential oil components. Finally, extracts of licorice, deglycyrrhizinated or not, promotes the formation of protective mucus in the stomach. These plants are far from being the only ones to have an effect in the gastric disorders treatment. Moreover. Maytenus robusta, already used for years by brazilian healers, shows very interesting properties for the upcoming future. Angelica, belladona, cabbage, psyllium , etc., also give good results but the treatment of gastric acidity disorders are not part of their initial indications. La prise en charge des troubles de l'acidité gastrique par des antiacides dits "classiques" présente certaines limites, comme leur durée d'action, leurs effets secondaires et leurs interactions. L'usage des plantes dans le traitement des dyspepsies marquées par des brûlures d'estomac, associée ou non à du reflux gastro œsophagien, possède une place intéressante, mais doit être considéré comme une solution d'appoint, outre l'utilisation déjà connue de polysaccharides en association avec des sels. En effet, il est important de noter que les plantes ne doivent pas être définies comme antiacides au sens propre du terme. Plusieurs firmes, comme Aboca® et Ortis®, ont déjà compris leurs intérêts, et en ont commercialisé des complexes. Dans la littérature, sont souvent évoqués la réglisse, la matricaire, la guimauve, l'aloès et le gingembre, ainsi que des algues telles le lithothamne, le fucus vésiculeux et le carrag(a)heen. Chez ces deux derniers, le mode 'action est basé sur les propriétés qu'ont les polysaccharides mucilagineux à former un film protecteur sur la muqueuse gastrique, menant à une cicatrisation en dessous de cette couche bienfaitrice. Le lithothamne quant à lui possède plutôt une action neutralisante, et le gingembre une action inhibitrice de la sécrétion gastrique. La matricaire, pour sa part, est essentiellement connue pour son activité anti-inflammatoire due aux composants de son huile essentielle. Enfin, des extraits de réglisse, déglycyrrhizinés ou non, favorisent la formation de mucus protecteur dans l 'estomac. Ces plantes sont loin d'être les seules à avoir un intérêt certain dans le traitement des troubles gastriques. En outre, le Maytenus robusta, déjà utilisé depuis des années par des "guérisseurs" brésiliens, présenterait des propriétés très intéressantes pour les années futures. L'angélique,la belladone, le chou, le psyllium, etc., donnent également de bons résultats, mais le traitement des troubles liés à l'acidité gastrique ne font pas partie de leurs indications premières.
