The purpose of this dissertation is to suggest keys for the pharmaceutical practice in community pharmacies connected with three groups of drugs from the neurological sector: hypnotics, sedatives and anti-anxiety agents, anti-depressive agents and antipsychotic agents. This dissertation aims to remind one of the adverse effects, the advice and the steps to do when the pharmacist is faced with a prescription in neurology which includes one or more drugs from these groups of drugs. In particular, when he is confronted with a difficulty linked to this prescription: polypharmacy. The latter is widely used; it can be useful, even required, but it can also be unsafe and unfounded. So, what is the role of health care workers, and above all of the pharmacist facing this kind of situation?

Local anesthetics are being increasingly applied in different surgeries. Lower side effects of neuroaxial anesthesia, regional anesthesia, and field block, in comparison to general anesthesia (volatile and intravenous agents), are the main reasons why physicians prefer to conduct surgeries under local anesthesia, especially in outpatient and day care surgeries. It is important to emphasize the presence of an anesthesiologist, and vigilant monitoring of the homodynamic parameters, in decreasing a patient's anxiety, exerting other modalities for analgesia and increasing the safety margin in many procedures.

Whilst the incidence of memory and awareness in anaesthesia appears not to be on the increase, the phenomenon is receiving growing attention from patients, anaesthetists, researchers and, of course, the media. This volume brings together recent advances in the wide-ranging area of research into this multi-faceted phenomenon. It is divided into four sections: monitoring depth of anaesthesia, learning and memory in anaesthesia, clinical measurement and brain function during anaesthesia, and awareness and psychological consequences of awareness during anaesthesia.
