Abstract

Toutes les les réseaux du Métro de New York City utilisent ce qui est maintenant appelé "Signalisation lumineuse latérale par cantonnement", c'est à dire que les signaux sont physiquement situés sur le côté de la voie (par opposition aux signaux suspendus ou télétransmis au train), qu'elle utilise les couleurs des feux (par opposition à l'utilisation de sémaphores, d'autres types de matériel, de positions ou de formes de feux), et qu'elle repose sur la division de la voie en cantons (ou sections de voie ou circuits de voie) pour détecter électriquement la présence de trains. Alors que la signalisation embarquée et de récentes technologies basées sur des principes de localisation et de transmission radio sont actuellement (1997) en cours d'étude à New York City, tous les itinéraires du métro actuel sont signalisés avec une signalisation latérale par cantonnement dont les principes n'ont pas significativement changé depuis l'ouverture de l'IRT en 1904.

Abstract

The community of European nations has grown. We can only get to know each other by engaging in an intensive dialogue. Art and culture are important foundations for mutual understanding. The New Ten is an exhibition displaying the work of 20 artists from the 10 new EU Member States that is intended to help us gain insight into and understand each other in a language we all understand. The initiators of the exhibition perceive art as a constructive opportunity for fostering integration.
