Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate the involvement of the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) in the enterprise governance and management of IT with a focus on business/IT alignment. For internal validity concerns, this research is scoped down to medium-to-large organizations from the Belgian and Dutch financial services sector. The goal of this research is twofold: (1) to validate (qualitatively) practices that exhibit the need for CEO involvement as identified in the COBIT 5 framework and (2) to investigate the link between CEO involvement (in medium-to-large organizations from the Belgian financial services sector) and business/IT alignment.
