What is the relationship between public debt and private wealth? And what do family policies have to do with these financial aggregates? We will see that there is a connection, but let's first clarify what is meant by family. In the common sense, a family includes ascenders, descendants and collaterals. But when we talk about family policies we only think of potential parents or families with pre-school children.

"Economic and sociological research has long shown that the widespread presence of criminal organizations in the territory is a factor that contrasts economic and social development. This is just one aspect of the complex relationship that exists between local economic dynamics and the illegal behavior of social actors. The relationship between social norms and legal norms, the quality and quantity of social capital, the bonds of trust between the actors and the legitimization of the state, the local power systems, the certainty of the sanctions, are other aspects that certainly contribute to create the conditions that favor illegal responses to the crisis. The book seeks to highlight how legality and illegality present facets and interdependencies that can't simply be traced back to the moral categories of good and evil, but need to be analyzed in a multifactorial perspective."

Intellectual capital is gaining in importance over the years, evolving from a "needed to win" resource, necessary to control the market, into a "needed to play" resource, namely an essential element for the survival of the firm. This evolution has led to innovations in accounting concepts, methods and tools. This work offers a critical analysis of the main methods and tools for the evaluation of the intellectual capital, of the potentials and limits of the various evaluation models proposed by the doctrine and the practice. A business case study completes the book.

Gino Arias (1879-1940), Florentine historian and economist of Israeli origin, was in his later years one of the top theorists of Fascist corporatism, which he came to at the end of an as yet widely unstudied intellectual path. After reconstructing his biography, the book investigates Arias's debut as a law historian, his route towards political economics and subsequent subscription to nationalism, paving the way to his involvement in that Fascist regime of which, paradoxically, he was to be both one of the most feared theorists and most illustrious victims, owing to the exile enforced upon him by the race laws. The appendix to the book offers a wealth of new documentation, including an inventory of his archives, the transcription of 130 letters to Achille Loria and his bibliography.
