La nuova traduzione italiana delle Omelie sui Salmi di Basilio le piu neglette degli scritti del Cappadoce e per la prima volta corredata di ampie note che inquadrano puntualmente il testo nel rapporto con altri autori cristiani precedenti contemporanei e posteriori e nel confronto tra cultura greca e fede cristiana. Affiancano le Omelie sui Salmi altre quattro omelie esegetiche. Linsieme delle omelie fa emergere la finezza e loriginalita dellinterpretazione di Basilio limportanza del suo ruolo nella storia dellesegesi ma anche la rilevanza del suo pensiero nelle molteplici componenti (teologia antropologia ecclesiologia morale ascetica e mistica).
