In the unimposing manuscript Luxemburg, BNL, MS 9, an anonymous glossator of the 12th century expounds three key texts on ancient grammar and logic: Priscian's Institutiones grammaticae, as well as Porphyry's Isagoge, and Aristotle's Categories in their latin translation. He carefully analyses the argumentative structures and discusses their philosophical foundations. In the process the "glossator" raises numerous linguistic, physical, and ontological questions. In the volume at hand, an elaborate scholarly study and a critical edition make accessible this important source of the Early and High Middle Ages for the first time.
