Thomas Wayne presents a contemporary take on Hesse's classic story, so apt today, of the lone individual lost in the ironic good fortune and security of bourgeois banality and cultural conformity. Harry Haller has all the insight, all the leisure, all the material goods he needs, yet he is not at peace with his life. A potent combination of Eastern and Western insights into the human search for meaning is given new life in a fresh translation.

This second volume of the commentary on the Baal Cycle, the most important Canaanite religious text from Ugarit, in Syria, analyzes KTU/CAT 1.3 and 1.4, the tablets that contain the long episode about how Baal secured permission from El to build his royal palace and how the palace was built. It includes a new edition of the tablets, supplemented by a DVD-ROM with 92 images and superimposible drawings, a comprehensive introduction, new translation and vocalized text, and detailed commentary. The authors develop an interpretation of the episode which places it into the larger context of the Baal Cycle as a whole.

"A poet, playwright, novelist, memoirist, and aphorist, Goethe was the German equivalent of Dante plus Shakespeare, a multifaceted universal genius. He put everything he had into this version of the famous myth of Faust, the man who sold his soul to the devil for worldly fame and riches. People face such choices every day - in this volume, Prof. Thomas Wayne presents the story in a contemporary voice." --

"This book empirically explores young people's practices and perceptions of sexting. It defines and surveys the various facets of sexting, and particularly addresses the ways in which sexting has been represented and responded to by the media, education campaigns and the law. It draws on a substantial body of qualitative and quantitative evidence of young people's views and experiences of sexting, a media discourse analysis capturing the tenure of public discussion about sexting, and an in-depth analysis of existing laws and sanctions that apply to sexting. Sexting and Young People also analyses the important broader socio-legal issues raised by sexting and the appropriateness of current responses. In doing so, this book offers recommendations for policy makers and the legal system, and provides direction for future approaches to sexting research"--

Bruce Zuckerman has transformed the way we look at ancient Semitic inscriptions. Through his efforts, the most important inscriptions of biblical times have been reread and the history of the biblical and Second Temple periods reimagined. He has made contributions to the fields of biblical studies and modern Judaism, and, in founding Maarav: A Journal for the Study of the Northwest Semitic Languages and Literatures , has made the research of many scholars available to the scholarly community. The series of articles included here honor his many contributions through discussions of a wide variety of inscriptional materials, Biblical texts, archaeology, lexicography and teaching methodology. Included in the volume is a republication of his path breaking exhibition catalogue, Puzzling Out the Past .
