De Hogeschool Gent werkt aan het 4-jarig Elbev-project. Elbev is de afkorting van Ecological Low Budget Electric Vehicle. Deze thesis situeert zich in het 3e jaar van het project waarin het koetswerk voor deze elektrische en ecologische wagen gemaakt wordt. Naast de eigenlijke opdracht worden ook andere onderdelen van het voertuig afgewerkt zoals het aluminium chassis. Verder wordt ook het stuurhuis gecorrigeerd en wordt de Elbev voorzien van een kofferruimte, een zetel en een rolbeugel. Het ontwerp van deze rolbeugel wordt via NX 8 geoptimaliseerd om met een zo laag mogelijk gewicht een kracht van 2000 Newton te kunnen opvangen. Het koetswerk wordt vervaardigd uit glasvezelversterkte polyesterplaten en uit doorzichtige polycarbonaatplaten. Om low-budget te blijven wordt zoveel mogelijk met 2D vervormingen van het polyester gewerkt. De polycarbonaatplaat zal het venster van de koepel worden.De platen worden met verschillende systemen vastgezet op het chassis met als doel een stevige, maar ook esthetisch verantwoorde verbinding te bekomen. Zo wordt er bijvoorbeeld gewerkt met afstandsklemmen, klinknagels en hulponderdelen waarop de platen worden gelijmd. De neus van het voertuig wordt gemaakt met behulp van Rapid Prototyping technieken. Door middel van 3D-printing worden verschillende stukken geprint in PLA die in elkaar passen als een soort puzzel. Tot slot dient er een koepel te worden gemaakt. Deze zal draaien rond een virtueel scharnierpunt, vergelijkbaar met bepaalde autokoffers. Om deze koepel te construeren zal gebruik gemaakt worden van een mal. Het maken van deze koepel zal pas volgend jaar plaatsvinden. The Hogeschool Gent is working on the 4 year Elbev project. Elbev stands for Ecological Low Budget Electric Vehicle. This thesis is situated in the third year of the project in which the bodywork of this vehicle is made. Next to the official assignment, there are also other parts of the vehicle being finished like the aluminium chassis. Besides that, the steering mechanism is upgraded and the Elbev gets a trunk space, a seat and a roll bar. The design and weight of this roll bar are optimized using NX 8 to withstand a force of 2000 Newton. The bodywork is made from glass fiber reinforced polyester plates and transparent polycarbonate plates. To remain low-budget the deformations of the polyester are as much as possible in only two dimensions. The transparent plate will be the window of the car. The plates are attached to the chassis by different systems to obtain a firm but aesthetic responsible connection. The nose of the vehicle is made by using Rapid Prototyping techniques. Different pieces are 3D printed in PLA and fit in each other like a 3D puzzle. Also a dome has to be made. It will rotate around a virtual pivot point, comparable with the trunk of a regular car. The manufacturing of the dome will be for next year, a mall will be necessary.
