Proceedings of Pipelines 2015, held in Baltimore, Maryland, August 23-26, 2015. Sponsored by the Pipelines Division of ASCE. This collection contains 174 peer-reviewed papers on recent advances in underground pipeline engineering and construction. Topics include: trenchless installation; pipeline planning, design, analysis, and construction; risk and safety assessments; and operation, maintenance, and rehabilitation of pipelines. These papers will be useful to design and consulting engineers, owner agencies and operators, and contractors, manufacturers, and suppliers of pipelines.

Proceedings of the ASCE Pipeline Division Specialty Conference, held in San Diego, California, July 15-18, 2001. Sponsored by the Pipeline Division of ASCE. This collection contains 81 papers that focus on recent technical contributions to pipeline engineering. Topics include: case studies to the benefit of pipeline owners for the construction, operation, and maintenance of their systems; rehabilitation design and methods that provide longer lasting and more reliable facilities; innovative trenchless technologies, such as horizontal directional drilling and microtunneling, which reduce inconvenience and risk to the public during construction; condition assessment of existing pipelines to give the provider more reliable information of existing conditions, which could prevent catastrophic failure; pipeline performance with behavior analysis in buried pipelines, preventative maintenance, causes of corrosion, seismic analysis, and liquifiable soils; and the challenges and advantages of design-build of pipelines.

Proceedings of the Pipelines 2010 Conference, held in Keystone, Colorado, August 28-September 1, 2010. Sponsored by the Pipeline Division of ASCE. This collection contains 152 papers that examine evolving infrastructure assessment and monitoring techniques to help pipeline professionals improve the reliability of buried pipeline assets. As U.S. pipeline infrastructure ages and displays the effects of decades of inattention and neglect, new and emerging technologies can provide innovative solutions to current and future problems. This collection can help the pipeline professional evaluate existing pipeline assets and set priorities for rehabilitation or replacement; design new pipelines using life-cycle costs and considerations; and obtain quality construction within the confines of project scope and budget. Topics include: construction, planning, design, construction, infrastructure assessment and monitoring, and new and emerging technologies.

Standard Practice for Direct Design of Buried Precast Concrete Pipe Using Standard Installations focuses on the direct design of buried precast concrete pipe using Standard Installations (SIDD). This Standard, a revision of ANSI/ASCE 14-93, reviews the design and construction of the soil–pipe interaction system used for the conveyance of sewage, industrial wastes, stormwater, and drainage. In this Standard, the SIDD method is used to account for the interaction between pipe and soil envelope in the determination of loads, pressure distributions, moment, thrust, and shear. Excavation, safety, foundation, bedding, sheathing removal, and trench shield advancement are among the construction requirements presented here. Four types of standard embankment installations and four types of standard trench installations are covered. This Standard may be used as a reference in preparing project specifications based on the SIDD method, and the limits state design procedure is consistent with the procedures outlined in the AASHTO Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges. A commentary provides supporting background data.
