The extensive use of fossil fuels has caused a significant increase in the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere in recent decades. Following several research and studies conducted on climate change, the responsibility of greenhouse gases has been proven in the phenomenon of radiative forcing of the climate. In order to participate in the fight against climate change, the University of Luxembourg has decided to draw up its balance sheet of greenhouse gases from the energy, fixed assets, mobility and purchases of goods and services sectors, the results of which have made it possible to highlight that the latter two are responsible for most emissions. The methodological choice and the assumptions used have been detailed in the dedicated chapter. Based on these results, the University of Luxembourg will be able to draw up a roadmap of mitigation and compensation measures based on a list of relevant actions and indicators, with the aim of reducing these CO2 emissions.
