Abstract

Powder is everywhere. We can find it in our day to day use, from flour to coffee. But this presence is enormous in several industries. From the metal industry to the chemical industry passing by the pharmaceutical businesses. The intensification in the use of powder leads to problems. Those issues can be solved by a better understanding of the product. Hence the powder characterization industry. The powder characterization industry is becoming more and more competitive. Granutools emerged as an outsider in the well-established firms in the field. This young and small Belgian company doubled its revenues every year since its foundation in 2015. The market areas are the USA and Europe. The rapid growth prevented developing a focus or a clear and structured strategy. The international environment is a major concern for the persistent future of the company.

Abstract

Abstract

Dropshipping is a phenomena that emerged during the past 5 to 10 years and which is still relativly unknown to the general public. This business model based on the maximum simplification of the logistic chain has recently been in the center of controversies. Despite its emergence in the online sales, very few litterature studied the operation and the marketing strategies of the companies who use it.This study will introduce the main concepts of drop shipping such as its busniess model, its suppliers, the main actors of the market and the services that developped around it. A particular attention will be given to the marketing strategy with the example of the company Fractal Belgium. This case focused on the market of jewellery and bracelets will help to understand the behaviour of the customer towards online sales and the decision making process that the companies must make in order to generate profits. The case of Fractal Belgium will then be extrapolated to other markets. The study will eventually talk about the ethic of such a business model and the possibilities of development that it offers on the long term.

Abstract

Football is one of the most famous sports in the world, and it is evolving considerably. Indeed, whether it is the way it is followed, watched, or experienced, it is constantly changing. The digital revolution is having a big influence on these changes, which are having an impact on the football world. The place of the fan in football is also constantly changing. Today, they are hyper-connected and informed of every news about their favourite club or athlete. The ways football organisations keep their fans engaged are now mainly based on digital technologies. The sport results are not sufficient in today’s world. This thesis examines how football organisations use digital technologies to keep their fan’s the most engaged as possible. In order to get a proper vision of how organisations do, some football organisations have been interviewed. This study is mainly based on the answers the interviewees gave about their digital technologies use. This research demonstrates that football organisations have different digital strategies, depending on the technology they use. Regarding social networks, all football organisations seem to use them with the same final objectives in terms of fan’s engagement. However, when it comes to NFTs, as it is a recent technology, football organisations do not share the same points of views and objectives

Abstract

Trash management has long been regarded as a sanitary approach for ridding cities of waste generated by human and animal activity. The goal is to prevent environmental and health issues such as air, soil, and groundwater contamination. Despite this, 2.12 billion tons of trash are thrown each year, with this amount expected to quadruple by 2100. (Goto, M., 2013)As a result, the goal of this research is to look at other options for resolving the problem. In some parts of the world, waste prevention and reuse have already been adopted. However, we will concentrate on the emerging trend of zero waste as an individual effort and impact from the consumer's standpoint. We looked at three dimensions: the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral components of zero waste to see how individuals are involved in this movement. To conduct this research, we used a combination of six in-depth interviews, secondary data, and an online survey of 375 people to identify the various elements that operate as barriers and motivators for people to embrace a zero-waste lifestyle. The results show that people are more motivated to adopt a zero-waste lifestyle when those around them (family, friends, etc.) already use it and regardless of their level of awareness on the topic of zero waste. Even if the price was not seen as an obstacle to the adoption of zero waste by people already interested in this way of life, it was still one of the main obstacles for others. Beyond the price aspect, the lack of time and the difficulty of accessing bulk stores also seem to be major constraints.

Abstract

In today’s more and more digitalised world, any business sector needs to adapt their work and offers to the emerging digital changes. This is also the case for the insurance sector, in which the brokers’ daily work has been strongly affected by digitalisation. As the brokers’ added value, the customer service, is traditionally based on personal contact with the customers, digitalisation has created some major challenges for the brokers (Buron, 2019). The aim of this dissertation was to analyse the impact of digitalisation on the distribution of insurances in Belgium in order to help brokers to find the right balance between personal and digital working approaches. The analysis should help to transform the potential threat of digitalisation into an opportunity for the brokers’ job. The conduction of a SWOT and Porter’s Five Forces analysis completed the literature research on this subject. Later, two different studies were conducted to collect practical data. On the one hand, a customer survey analysed the customers’ point of view when it comes to digitalisation in the insurance sector. On the other hand, an in-depth interview helped to gain insights into the brokers’ opinions. An analysis and comparison of the results of both studies finally revealed interesting insights into the impact of digitalisation on the insurance sector. Most interestingly, brokers and customers tended to share similar points of view and agreed in the fact that personal contact and advice should be the most important aspects. Even if digitalisation has slightly changed the customer behaviour, especially that of younger generations, the need to have brokers for personal counselling remains crucial. The findings have helped to get a better understanding of the real impact of digitalisation and have proved that the thought “threat” of digitalisation could rather be seen and used as an opportunity and support for the brokers’ job. Finally, the key implications for brokers and researchers were stated and encountered limitations were acknowledged, based on which recommendations for further research could be made.
