Les livres imprimés en Italie (XV ème et XVI ème siècles), conservés dans les collections bas-normandes, représentent un fonds riche d’environ 600 ouvrages. Nombreux sont les livres qui, par leur typographie et leurs gravures illustrent admirablement le degré de perfection technique et esthétique atteint par les imprimeurs italiens : la Bibliothèque Universitaire et la Bibliothèque de Caen possèdent des exemplaires de grande valeur de par leurs appareils iconographiques, leurs reliures, les années de leurs éditions, leur état de conservation. Dans ce volume sont ressemblées les études issues des communications faites par un groupe de chercheurs internationaux réunis le 20 et 21 Novembre 2009, à l’IMEC, Abbaye d’Ardenne, près de Caen. Ayant parmi ses objectifs principaux la valorisation des fonds patrimoniaux des bibliothèques normandes, cette rencontre n’a été qu’une des étapes d’un vaste projet en cours: « Routes du livre italien ancien en Normandie, valorisation d’un patrimoine méconnu » dont l’un des résultats scientifiques majeurs est la banque de donnée homonyme. I libri stampati in Italia (XV e XVI secolo), conservati nelle collezioni della Bassa Normandia, rappresentano un fondo di circa 600 opere. Numerosi sono i libri che, per le loro caratteristiche tipografiche e illustrazioni, testimoniano dell’eccezionale livello di perfezione tecnica e estetica raggiunto dagli stampatori italiani: la Biblioteca Universitaria e la Biblioteca di Caen possiedono esemplari di grande valore per le rilegature, le date d’edizione, lo stato di conservazione e la ricchezza degli apparati iconografici. In questo volume sono raccolti gli studi di un gruppo internazionale di ricercatori che si è riunito il 20 e 21 novembre 2009, all’IMEC, Abbazia d’Ardenna, presso Caen. Questo incontro, il cui obiettivo è stato la valorizzazione dei fondi patrimoniali delle biblioteche normanne, ha rappresentato una delle tappe di un vasto progetto in corso: « Routes du livre italien ancien en Normandie », che ha già un risultato scientifico: la banca-dati omonima.
