De hoeveelheid ziektebeelden en soorten laboratoriumbepalingen is enorm. De auteur heeft zich daarom beperkt tot het meest voorkomende laboratoriumonderzoek. Natuurlijk ontbreekt een lijst met referentiewaarden niet: gemeten waarden kunnen dan direct vergeleken worden met normaalwaarden. Chemie van de mens is een opleidingsboek en naslagwerk in een.
