Le syndrome de dilatation-torsion gastrique est une pathologie caractérisée par l’apparition aigüe d’une dilatation gastrique et d’une rotation de l’organe autour de son axe mésentérique. Cette affection grave peut mener au décès dans 9,8 à 35% des cas et doit donc être rapidement prise en charge médico-chirurgicalement. L’objectif de ce travail est de fournir une grille d’outils pronostiques aux praticiens qui doivent faire face à cette urgence vitale dans des conditions de coûts relativement élevés ainsi qu’aux propriétaires des chiens qui ont souvent de nombreuses questions. Dans cette optique, une revue systématique de la littérature de ces vingt dernières années a été réalisée. Les paramètres disponibles à l’admission en clinique des chiens qui souffrent de ce syndrome retenus pour cette étude sont les suivants : la concentration plasmatique en lactates, la concentration sérique en protéine C-réactive, la concentration plasmatique en HMGB1, l’immunoréactivité de la lipase pancréatique canine sérique, ainsi que différents autres biomarqueurs dont la valeur pronostique a été moins largement étudiée (la concentration plasmatique en ADN libre circulant, la concentration sérique en pepsinogène-A canin et la concentration plasmatique en myoglobine). Les résultats des études analysées sont parfois divergents (notamment en ce qui concerne les lactates, le CRP et l’HMGB1). Ils s’accordent en ce qui concerne le cPLI en ne lui reconnaissant pas de valeur pronostique à l’admission. De manière générale, les études les plus récentes ont tendance à être de moindre envergure. Elles présentent donc moins d’indications en termes statistiques. Une critique de la littérature retenue a été réalisée et de nouvelles études sont encouragées quant à la valeur pronostique de ces biomarqueurs d’inflammation et de dommages cellulaires.
