This publication presents a selection of her most startling work so far, created in response to the dramatic social and political upheaval that she experienced after the Iranian Revolution of 1979 and the murder of her parents in Tehran. Though the inspiration behind Forouhar's subject matter may be tragic, her work has a great emotional range: the results are sometimes macabre, occasionally darkly humorous and often purely joyful. Published to coincide with artist's first solo show in the UK at Leighton House Museum, London, in October 2010, this is the first English-language monograph of her work. The Artist's work is in the permanent collections of The Queensland Art Museum, Queensland; Belvedere, Vienna; Badisches Landesmuseum, Karlsruhe; Musem of Modern Art, Frankfurt; and the Deutsche Bank Art Collection. Rose Issa provides a foreword and there are essays by the curator and film-maker Lutz Becker and the author and art critic Russell Harris. -- Publication description.

*Bien fait? Mal fait? Pas fait? - Regarding the Artistic Practice* is an audio-visual book that invites you to reflect, enjoy and think further on the questions, irritations and stimulations of the artistic labour. It documents via photos, essays, videos and audio-material an event that took place in October 2007 at Sint-Lucas Visual Arts Ghent: the symposium *Bien fait? Mal fait? Pas fait?* as well as the exhibition Multispeak. During two days, artists, scientists, philosophers, students and others were discussing their thoughts and ideas on terms as 'artistic research', 'the roles of the artist', 'possible worlds', 'the myths of creativity and originality', 'the complementarities of practice and theory', etc. It was a highly heterogeneous programme, with many productive options in the end instead of an answer. In this sense, the book offers you the 'humus' of our debate, impressions of the exhibition and quotations from the artists themselves, to initiate hopefully further entanglements of theory and practice in the Arts.

"The movement of global populations, and subsequently the task of translation, underlies contemporary culture: the intricacies of ancient and modern Jewish diaspora, generations of colonisation and the transportation of slaves are now superimposed by economic and environmental migration, forced political exiles and refugees. This timely anthology will consider translation's ongoing role in cultural navigation, empathy and understanding disparate experience, exploring the approaches of artists, poets and theorists in negotiating increasingly protean identities: from the intrinsic intimacy of language, to translation's embedded structures of knowledge production and interaction, to its limitations of expression and, ultimately, its importance in a world of multiple perspectives. Artists surveyed include Meric Algün Ringborg, Geta Brătescu, Tanya Bruguera, Jesse Darling, Chto Delat, Chohreh Feyzdjou, Susan Hiller, Glenn Ligon, Teresa Margolles, Shirin Neshat, Hélio Oiticica, Pratchaya Phinthong, Kurt Schwitters, Yinka Shonibare, Mladen Stilinović, Erika Tan, Kara Walker, Wu Tsang. Writers include Hannah Arendt, James Baldwin, Walter Benjamin, Judith Butler, Luis Camnitzer, Jean Fisher, Stuart Hall, bell hooks, Sarat Maharaj, Martha Rosler, Bertrand Russell, Simon Sheikh, Gayatri Spivak, Hito Steyerl, Lawrence Venuti"--

Global Feminism features more than eighty contemporary women artists, working in a wide variety of media, from fifty countries, each offering new perspectives on women's artistic expression in different regions of the world. This book moves the discourse of feminism art toward a new internationalism that emphasizes not only the cultural differences among women but also the ever changing perceptions of feminism.
