La science des mœurs, la morale - et l'éthique qui les fonde - ont orienté l'activité sociologique dès son commencement. Celle présentation procède à un bref rappel des positions théoriques. Elle est surtout destinée à montrer comment s'exprime et se traduit en pratique, aujourd'hui, la demande d'éthique. Elle souligne le fait que c'est la définition de l'homme, dans la modernité actuelle, qui reste en attente de précision. rom its very beginning, sociological research has been orientated towards the study of behavioural patterns, morals -and the ethics upon which they are based. This article briefly recalls a number of theoretical points of view. It is mainly intended to demonstrate how the demand for ethics is today finding its expression and its practical application. It underlines the fact that it is the definition of man, in the present modernity, which is still needing to be further specified.
