Second pack of the a+t research group collection aiming to promote the compact city and desirable dwelling. Pack contains 50 floor plans from recent collective housing buildings (2000-2017) with different sizes and forms (Z-shape, Butterfly, Spine, Empty Circle, Cactus, etc.), in addition to 50 housing units taken from projects. This pack is a+t research group's "bid to disseminate the collective housing in which we would like to live. It is not a pack of playing cards. It is a pack for better living. Taking form as a compact deck of double-sided cards, with the numbering of the cards corresponding to the size of the floor plan area, from smallest to largest, this useful guide offers detailed technical information together with criteria for estimated privacy and exterior quality. A wide spectrum of shapes is made available, and both vertical and horizontal circulation indexes are given with each floor plan example. Adding to the collection’s accessibility, measurements are expressed in both metric and imperial units.

What is density? This question is the starting point of an investigation into the nature of density in the contemporary urban environment. In analysing projects located throughout Europe, the research proposes that density is not about volumetric exploitation, but based on the interaction between three elements: agents, fluxes, and territory. This book documents the findings, detailing individual buildings, cataloguing specific urban forms, and drawing conclusions as to performance and quality, also in an ecological sense. It also offers a case study concerning the former site of the Renault factory in Paris, examining how an experimental opportunity can lead to a vibrant piece of city.
