"For nearly sixty years, Richard Artschwager (b. 1923) has undertaken an unrelenting investigation of art's ability to mediate contemporary experience and perception. Although his work, which includes sculpture, painting, prints, and drawing, is often characterized as having elements of Pop Art, Minimalism, and Conceptual Art, his practice defies easy categorization and his oeuvre is not entirely understood. In Richard Artschwager! the breadth of the artist's idealistic, diverse work, and unconventional materials, such as Formica, rubberized hair, and Celotex, is fully illustrated and explored for the first time. The four essays in this volume illuminate previously unaddressed aspects of Artschwager's work, including his response to life in the age of mechanical reproduction, the relationship of his work to mainstream art, and his recent work's connection with Post-Impressionism. These texts, along with new photographs, previously unpublished archival images, and details of his materials, offer a compelling new look at one of the most singular artists of the 20th century and why he remains a highly influential figure today"--

Kuri gathers his resources from a variety of sites before combining them in a manner that draws upon tradition of assemblage with a nod to Surrealist montage. The catalogue shows, amongst others, new pieces produced for the exhibition, revealing both the diversity of Kuri's formal approach and the consistency of his underlying themes: notions of commercial and cultural value, consumerism, as well as material and its poetic (mis)use.

"Marisol remains perhaps the most intriguing and least understood artist associated with Pop art-one whose celebrity nearly overshadowed her formidable accomplishments. This catalogue, the most comprehensive on Marisol's work ever assembled, accompanies a major traveling retrospective organized by the Buffalo AKG Art Museum that reckons with the entirety of her pioneering, multifaceted, nearly sixty-year career, illuminating the potency and contemporary relevance of her vast practice. Assessments by leading scholars that affirm Marisol's radical legacy for the twenty-first century include essays by exhibition organizer Cathleen Chaffee, Anna Katherine Brodbeck, Estrellita Brodsky, Alex Da Corte, Mary-Dailey Desmarais, Jessica Hong, Delia Solomons, and Julia Vázquez, and contributions by Jason Hose. These exciting examinations of and reflections on the long arc of Marisol's career are presented alongside full-color reproductions of the works featured in the retrospective, a robust bibliography, an exhibition history, and an illustrated chronology"
