La contraception orale est le moyen le plus répandu chez les adolescentes, son efficacité comme son innocuité sont reconnues et son coût est abordable. Malgré cette disponibilité, le nombre de grossesses menées à terme ou non reste stable chez les adolescentes. Il est donc important de se demander pourquoi, chez les adolescentes, en dépit des moyens mis en oeuvre, il y a encore tant de conceptions non désirées. Les avancées médicales ne semblent pas tenir compte d'un ensemble de facteurs émotionnels et psychologiques.
