Since mail volume, the core business of bpost, is declining over time while value must be constantly created for shareholders, bpost needed to find new opportunities to grow. That’s why the company recently became involved in a series of acquisitions. In this context, it is essential to clarify the roles and responsibilities of all stakeholders involved in the M&A process to help the company to move to a more structured M&A approach. To do so, the purpose of this project-thesis is to design the guidebook of the M&A to-be process at bpost, detailing its six phases and making recommendations to reduce the gaps between the as-is situation and the to-be process.
