This is the reason why some countries try to diversify their suppliers. With the analysis in panel data and with a probit model of the worldwide main trade of gas I put in evidence that while the gas trade via pipeline remains mainly restricted to a same continent and determined by an historical link, the gas trade via LNG seems to be more global and may be a solution for the European countries in their objectives of energy import diversification.
