Questionnaires can be administered to collect comprehensive and reliable information about the impact of listening difficulties on the child. The Evaluation of Children's Listening and Processing Skills (ECLiPS) is one of the most reliable and validated parent questionnaires mapping the assessment of relevant behaviors for successful listening in children aged 6-11 years. This has led to the need to translate the questionnaire into Dutch and to set up a standardization study. The aim of this master's thesis is twofold: to supplement and expand the norm group of six-year-olds for children of 12 and 13-year-olds. In addition, it is being investigated whether the ECLiPS can be used for self-assessment in the latter group. This master's thesis also examines for the first time to what extent the questionnaire can be applied to 4- and 5-year-olds. Seven participants were recruited in both age categories for the first part of this master's thesis. A comprehensive audiological and neurocognitive test battery was used to determine whether the participants had normal hearing and typical development. In addition, two parents/relatives of the child, as well as the 12-13-year-old child, completed the Dutch ECLiPS questionnaire. On the one hand, it is examined to what extent the results of 6-year-olds from this study correspond to the reference values of their peers found in previous master's theses and it was investigated whether separate standards are needed for 12- and 13-year-olds by comparing their scores with those of children from younger age categories. On the other hand, the correspondence between the assessment of parents and the child itself is examined. For the second part, 12 professionals were recruited from different fields, such as speech therapists, audiologists and remedial educationalists. They assessed whether the ECLiPS statements were relevant to 4- and 5-year-olds through individual online surveys. The results illustrate that the ECLiPS scores of the 6-year-olds from my sample are largely in agreement with the reference values found in previous master's theses for the same age group. The analyzes also suggest that no separate standards are needed for Flemish children aged 12 to 13 years. It can also be assumed that the assessment of the parents and the assessment of the 13-year-old child itself on the ECLiPS are in good agreement, except for the factor PSS. Finally, the majority of ECLiPS statements appear to be suitable for preschoolers, except for the statements associated with the factor L/L/L. Possible follow-up research can focus on expanding the current research population. ER -
