The purpose of this research is to therefore look at the changing cultural practices in P’Adhola, due to various factors, such as the prevalence of HIV/AIDS, the rising level of poverty, and the exceeding numbers of orphans that seek resettlement within their extended families. This research draws upon data collected between July and November 2015, in the Tororo district in Eastern Uganda. Changes of cultural practices are described through the perspectives of three categories of informants, who expose different changes in fostering practices, influenced by various factors. Finally, this research points out that changes in cultural practices are to be seen on a continuum, through a constant process of reconfiguration, whereby some practices are disregarded and others are adopted as strategy to cope with the current state of affairs.
