In the first chapter I’ll ask some general questions like: What does it mean when we say Daydream? Is there anybody else trapped in this parallel world I got trapped in? What are the effects of daydreaming on real life? How does the physical state of the brain works when I’m daydreaming? What are the psychological theories and terms of mind wandering? How do scientific researches studies call this state of mind? In the second chapter I’ll try study daydreaming through the artworks and artists which have the same mind status. Questions like: Is daydreaming related to creativity? What are the descriptions of artists about the process of creating with the help from their daydreaming? What are the ways of communication for artist from their daydreaming to the audience? Is daydreaming fruitful for the artist? I also used some interviews and quotes from artists, while they are talking about mind wandering and its efficiency or effects on their art works. In the third chapter I’ll analyze some sequences from movies that have a daydreaming sequence or concept in them. I’ve chosen “Day Dream” by Buster Keaton, “the Exterminating Angel” by Luis Bunuel and “Barton Fink” by the Coen Brothers, to inspect their path of visualizing daydreams in terms of form, content, visuals and storytelling. These examples could lead us to understanding more of the methods that are used in cinema, for showing daydreaming on the screen. It can also illustrate the functions of shifting from reality to daydream that these directors chose to make these alterations, visual and believable for audience in their movies. And in the forth and last chapter I'll exploring this phenomenon in my way of creating arts, specially in short films I've made and so on... ER -
