The Andaquí language is an indigenous language which was spoken by the Amazonian tribes Charaguaye and Aguanunga, who lived in Upper Caquetá, western Colombia. No native speakers of the language remain, and the language is considered isolate, although different genealogical relations have been proposed. Two linguistic sources of Andaquí are available: one word list by José Celestino Mutis sent to Madrid in 1787, and one word list by Manuel Maria Albis in 1854. A database containing the data of both sources has served as the starting point of this research. This thesis contains a morphological as well as syntactic contribution. It also offers an historical background of the Andaquí speakers, and an account of the previous work on the Andaquí, including previous attempts to link the language to other languages or language families. This thesis presents hitherto undiscovered grammatical features of Andaquí. Therefore, it could serve as a reference work to further establish a genealogical profile of the language. ER -
