"During the last three decades of intensive research on 3D printing, the focus of the development has been put on structural simple parts rather than on complex objects based on multiple functional materials. However, in the last years, the use of 3D printing for fabricating complex devices has become an emerging and promising topic, especially in the energy sector. This book covers aspects related to additive manufacturing of functional materials with applicability in the energy sector. The book comprehensively reviews both the technology itself (printable materials and 3D printing strategies) and its specific use in energy devices or systems. Split into three sections the book cover the 3D printing of functional materials; 3D printing of energy devices; and printing challenges for production of complex objects."--

"This standard textbook consists of the construction and working details of all modern as well as fundamentals of Additive Manufacturing and 3D Printing technology processes and machines. The book is written so that it will help the reader to understand the systems fundamentally. This book provides a selection of additive manufacturing techniques suitable for near term application with enough technical background to understand the domain, applicability, and to consider variations to suit technical and organization constraints. It will highlight new innovative 3D Printing systems, present a view of 4D Printing, and promote a vision of additive manufacturing and applications toward modern manufacturing engineering practices. With the block diagrams, self-explanatory figures, chapter questions, and photographs of lab developed prototypes, along with case studies, this new textbook will be useful to students studying courses in Mechanical, Production, Design, Mechatronics, and Electrical Engineering"--

Multi-material 3D Printing Technology introduces the first models for complex construction and manufacturing using a multi-material 3D printer. The book also explains the advantages that these innovative models provide at various points of the manufacturing supply chain. Innovations in fields such as medicine and aerospace are seeing 3D printing applied to problems that require the technology to develop beyond its traditional definitions. This groundbreaking book provides broad coverage of the theory behind this emerging technology, and the technical details required for readers to investigate these methods for themselves. In addition to describing new models for application of this technology, this book also systematically summarizes the historical models, materials and relevant technologies that are important in multi-material 3D printing.

3D scanning is a process that captures the three-dimensional attributes of an object and includes surface texture and spectral content. 3D scanners have become a critical tool for shortening product development and manufacturing time. The ongoing technological advancements in terms of portability, scanning range, and image quality have opened new application areas for 3D scanning. However, 3D scanning appears to be primarily dependent on users. Innovation in technology and application software, as well as growing and diverse connectivity, are leading 3D scanners to become a more integral element in the overall value chain. This notwithstanding, interoperability, data security and privacy, quality, portability, and trustworthiness are opportunities to be realized. The intent of this white paper is to highlight areas of opportunity for standard development organizations, specifically the IEEE P3141 Working Group, to focus on and further enable broad market use for the various sectors and users.

This superbly illustrated book provides a comprehensive overview of guided endodontics, a technology-driven treatment approach that represents a paradigm shift in endodontic therapy and offers predictable solutions in cases of partial or complete root canal calcification and root end surgeries. Guided endodontics has proved to be a safe, clinically feasible method for the location of root canals and prevention of root perforations. Preoperative CBCT scans are aligned with intraoral 3D scans using special software, allowing virtual planning of the root canal access cavity. Subsequently, a 3D template can be produced to guide the drill into the calcified canal. This virtual planning helps to preserve the tooth structure and avoid procedural errors. All of these aspects are fully covered in the book, with detailed step-by-step instruction on the use of static guides and dynamic navigation systems in non-surgical treatments. The role of static and dynamic guidance in surgical endodontics is also explained, and a concluding chapter addresses future trends in 3D guidance in endodontics and other fields of dentistry.
