Craniofacial Trauma, Diagnosis and Management offers detailed guidance on the diagnosis, surgical planning, and interdisciplinary treatment of craniofacial trauma. The book is divided into two parts. The first, devoted to classification and diagnosis of craniofacial fractures, includes chapters on anatomy, radiology, fracture classification, fracture mechanisms, epidemiological aspects, symptoms, and specific related aspects of neuro-craniofacial injuries. The second part addresses the treatment of craniofacial trauma, examining operative principles and providing step-by-step descriptions of a variety of hard and soft tissue reconstructive procedures. Complications and late sequelae following craniofacial reconstruction are examined, and a further chapters is devoted to delayed reconstruction of craniofacial defects. New developments and the role of computer-assisted treatment planning are discussed in the final section. This manual will provide an indispensable reference for residents in maxillofacial training and for maxillofacial/ neurosurgeons in the specialized field of craniofacial traumatology. .

“Osteomyelitis of the Jaws” is the first textbook of its kind covering exclusively all aspects of this challenging disease. A clear classification of osteomyelitis of the jaws is provided. Clinical presentation and diagnosis are meticulously described and illustrated. Radiological imaging from conventional radiographs to CT, MRI and PET diagnosis are outlined for all types of osteomyelitis of the jaws. Pathology and Pathophysiology of this disease are described in a clear way. All therapeutic modalities from surgery to antibiotic and hyperbaric oxygen therapy are comprehensively outlined and discussed. Each type of Osteomyelitis of the jaws are additionally described and illustrated in case reports giving this book a very practical approach to the subject.

Carotid Artery Stenting: A Practical Guide offers beginners a contemporary practical handbook. As the popularity of Carotid Artery Stenting (CAS) grows, so too does the demand in knowledge and guidance for this technically challenging and high risk procedure. The book aids optimal outcomes during early experiences with CAS by helping to avoid many common pitfalls. The text runs through common themes of CAS such as carotid anatomy variations, material selection, imaging during CAS, pharamacological support regimes and post procedural care serving to minimise the potential risk of error and further complications. This is an essential handbook for physicians of all backgrounds, particularly Vascular Radiologists, Neurointerventionists, Vascular Surgeons, Interventional Cardiologists, and Neurologists/Stroke Physicians. This book is written by a number of authors from around the globe, and edited by Gerry Stansby and Sumaira Macdonald, two experts in the field of vascular radiology and surgery. Sumaira Macdonald is also responsible for the carotid artery stenting program in Newcastle making this book a reliable source of information and guidance in the domain of CAS.

This book presents the neurobiology of orthodontics according to the most recently acquired knowledge on the interaction of the brain activity with the senses. In particular, it highlights the ability of orofacial sensory input to modulate and change the brain activity underlying functions of the stomatognathic system, such as chewing, biting, speech, and occlusal feedback. The approach adopted thereby represents a significant departure from the theory and practice of traditional orthodontics, in which malocclusions of the teeth have been interpreted as deriving from DNA coding errors. The described new conceptualization of the etiology and diagnosis of malocclusions has profound implications for orthodontic therapy, as is clearly explained. Orthodontic therapy in turn has significant effects on the brain, which are documented in a chapter devoted to neuroimaging methods. By opening up new and creative pathways in the world of orthodontics, this book will hopefully both educate and excite the practitioner. It is recommended reading for all orthodontists.
