This is the first official historyof the Aberdeen-Angus breed in the British Isles for nearly fifty years - the last having been that which was published in 1910 as the second edition of the history, "On Polled Cattle", written by James Macdonald and James Sinclair. In the intervening forty-eight years the breed has expanded tremendously. This volume records all the developments both before and since 1910, not only in the individual herds but also at the great British summer shows, at the fat stock exhibitions, and the breed sales which nowadays attract large crowds of buyers. In 1910 the breed was still struggling for its place in the United Kingdom's agricultural economy ; today it dominates beef production, and the number of herds has been multiplied many times. This History shows how the transformation has come to pass.
