Abstract

Esta obra junta-se a uma outra (também editada pela IUC) para ambas seconstituírem como duas faces de uma mesma moeda. Tendo um alcancedistinto, as duas resultam de um mesmo projeto de investigação centradona temática da fraude académica e complementam-se mutuamente. Nesta obrareunimos alguns dos textos que sustentaram as intervenções feitas pelosseus autores no colóquio final do projeto, que teve lugar na Faculdadede Economia da Universidade de Coimbra a 8 e 9 de maio de 2014. Trata-sede autores cujas reflexões foram muito importantes para a conceção e odesenvolvimento do projeto. Alguns deles assumiram a função deconsultores externos e o seu contributo estende-se muito para lá dasreflexões que aqui deixam escritas.

Abstract

This book is an outcome of the 4th International Conference «Plagiarism across Europe and Beyond» organized by Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Mendel University in Brno, and the European Network for Academic Integrity. The conference is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Strategic Partnerships Programme of the European Union. It aims to be a forum for sharing best practices and experiences by addressing issues of academic integrity from a wide-scope global perspective. With regards to the crucial role of ethics and honesty in academic work, universities are in need of more effective policies against infringements of academic standards. The papers in this book therefore aim to contribute to the standardization of consistent and transparent approaches to issues of academic integrity from several perspectives.

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is changing the world as we know it. Recent advances are enabling people, companies, and governments to envision and experiment with new methods of interacting with computers and modifying how virtual and physical processes are carried out. One of the fields in which this transformation is taking place is education. After years of witnessing the incorporation of technological innovations into learning/teaching processes, we can currently observe many new research works involving AI. Moreover, there has been increasing interest in this research area after the COVID-19 pandemic, driven toward fostering digital education. Among recent research in this field, AI applications have been applied to enhance educational experiences, studies have considered the interaction between AI and humans while learning, analyses of educational data have been conducted, including using machine learning techniques, and proposals have been presented for new paradigms mediated by intelligent agents. This book, entitled “AI in Education”, aims to highlight recent research in the field of AI and education. The included works discuss new advances in methods, applications, and procedures to enhance educational processes via artificial intelligence and its subfields (machine learning, neural networks, deep learning, cognitive computing, natural language processing, computer vision, etc.).

Abstract

A fraude académica cometida por alunos é um problema de ordem institucional,social e moral. Ela compromete a solidez de estruturas básicas da sociedade,tais como a confiança nas instituições e a confiança interpessoal.
Este livro apresenta e discute os resultados de um amplo estudo conduzido pordocentes da Universidade de Coimbra, no Centro de Estudos Sociais, sobre afraude académica cometida por alunos no ensino superior em Portugal, no âmbitodo qual foram questionados 7.292 alunos e 2.727 docentes.
Sendo escassos os estudos publicados sobre este assunto em Portugal, este livroapresenta, numa linguagem simples e acessível:

• as perceções dos estudantes sobre a fraude cometida e sobre os seusprincipais motivos e inibidores;

Abstract

This open access book presents original contributions and thought leadership on academic integrity from a variety of Canadian scholars. It showcases how our understanding and support for academic integrity have progressed, while pointing out areas urgently requiring more attention. Firmly grounded in the scholarly literature globally, it engages with the experience of local practicioners. It presents aspects of academic integrity that is specific to Canada, such as the existence of an "honour culture", rather than relying on an "honour code". It also includes Indigenous voices and perspectives that challenge traditional understandings of intellectual property, as well as new understandings that have arisen as a consequence of Covid-19 and the significant shift to online and remote learning. This book will be of interest to senior university and college administrators who are interested in ensuring the integrity of their institutions.
