The Discrete Event Simulation (DES) method has received widespread attention and acceptance by both researchers and practitioners in recent years. The range of application of DES spans across many different disciplines and research fields. In research, further development and advancements of the basic DES algorithm continue to be sought while various hybrid methods derived by combining DES with other simulation techniques continue to be developed. This book presents state-of-the-art contributions on fundamental development of the DES method, novel integration of the method with other modeling techniques as well as applications towards simulating and analyzing the performances of various types of systems. This book will be of interest to undergraduate and graduate students, researchers as well as professionals who are actively engaged in DES related work.

Written by an eminent authority in the field, Modelling of Mechanical Systems: Fluid-Structure Interaction is the third in a series of four self-contained volumes suitable for practitioners, academics and students alike in engineering, physical sciences and applied mechanics. The series skilfully weaves a theoretical and pragmatic approach to modelling mechanical systems and to analysing the responses of these systems. The study of fluid-structure interactions in this third volume covers the coupled dynamics of solids and fluids, restricted to the case of oscillatory motions about a state of

This first volume is concerned with discrete systems - the study of which constitutes the cornerstone of all mechanical systems, linear or non-linear. It covers the formulation of equations of motion and the systematic study of free and forced vibrations. The book goes into detail about subjects such as generalized coordinates and kinematical conditions; Hamilton's principle and Lagrange equations; linear algebra in N-dimensional linear spaces and the orthogonal basis of natural modes of vibration of conservative systems. Also included are the Laplace transform and forced responses of linear d

The book begins by introducing signals and systems, and then discusses Time-Domain analysis and Frequency-Domain analysis for Continuous-Time systems. It also covers Z-transform, state-space analysis and system synthesis. The author provides abundant examples and exercises to facilitate learning, preparing students for subsequent courses on circuit analysis and communication theory.

This book covers some selected problems of the descriptor integer and fractional order positive continuous-time and discrete-time systems. The book consists of 3 chapters, 4 appendices and the list of references. Chapter 1 is devoted to descriptor integer order continuous-time and discrete-time linear systems. In Chapter 2, descriptor fractional order continuous-time and discrete-time linear systems are considered. Chapter 3 is devoted to the stability of descriptor continuous-time and discrete-time systems of integer and fractional orders. In Appendix A, extensions of the Cayley-Hamilton theorem for descriptor linear systems are given. Some methods for computation of the Drazin inverse are presented in Appendix B. In Appendix C, some basic definitions and theorems on Laplace transforms and Z-transforms are given. Some properties of the nilpotent matrices are given in Appendix D.
