Over the last decade, supply chain management has advanced from the warehouse and logistics to strategic management. Integrating theory and practices of supply chain management, this book incorporates hands-on literature on selected topics of Value Creation, Supply Chain Management Optimization and Mass-Customization. Du sport sans artifice au sport bionique... Amélioration ou condamnation ? Le sport est aujourd'hui visité par les techniques d'amélioration des capacités humaines. Celles-ci permettent d'accroître ou de restaurer efficacement les capacités de l'être humain. Des innovations spectaculaires sont enregistrées dans des secteurs comme les nanotechnologies, les biotechnologies, les sciences cognitives, l'informatique, etc. Leur introduction dans le domaine du sport, du haut niveau à la pratique de masse ou de loisir, chez les athlètes valides ou handicapés, perturbe souvent les certitudes et suscite prises de position, interrogations et inquiétudes. D'un côté amélioration dans l'accompagnement des sportifs d'excellence ou libération des sportifs handicapés, de l'autre condamnation de la culture sportive séculaire et aliénation progressive des sportifs ? Relativisme des normes et des valeurs du sport face aux avancées technologiques ? Progrès ou régression dans la quête humaniste ? Autant de questions qui méritent d'être abordées et traitées. D'ailleurs, à ce jour, existe-t-il des instances régulatrices suffisamment armées pour appréhender ces problèmes ? La 31ème Université Sportive d'Été a été accueillie à Montpellier, dans un lieu prestigieux et de circonstance : Pierresvives, au sein de la « Cité des savoirs et du Sport pour tous », du 4 au 6 septembre 2013, avec le soutien du Montpellier Université Club. Organisée par l'UNCU et l'UJSF, elle s'est attelée à la tâche en donnant la parole à une quinzaine de personnalités issues de la recherche universitaire, fondamentale ou appliquée, des sciences de l'homme et de la société, du journalisme, des sciences et des techniques de l'ingénieur, du sport et de l'éducation, faisant face à un public des plus motivés.

Much of the recent literature on political perfectionism has focused on dealing with objections to this view. This book adopts a different approach: It attempts to highlight the intuitive appeal of liberal perfectionism by presenting a positive prima facie argument in its favour. The book starts by clarifying the relation between political perfectionism - a conception of politics - and prudential perfectionism and ethical perfectionism - a conception of the good life, and a type of ethical theory. It is crucial to start by selecting a plausible form of ethical perfectionism, as it makes an important difference to the plausibility of the political conception based upon it. Once appropriate distinctions are drawn and a plausible form of liberal perfectionism is endorsed, many of the standard objections to perfectionism are shown to fail to reach their target. Different arguments in favour of liberal perfectionism are then proposed and critically examined, but the resilience of some pragmatic arguments against liberal perfectionism is conceded. The book ends by showing that perfectionism can be surprisingly relevant for discussions of social justice and proceeds to draw a sketch of the perfectionist implications for questions of distributive justice.

For years, automotive supplier GAFFER has been able to survive using its old management and production practices. But times have been changing and GAFFER's future looks bleak. Jake is a retired production planner, reflecting on his long history with the GAFFER factory and what is currently happening. He wonders how things might change as their main customer wants a completely new part to be not only produced, but also designed at GAFFER. Just when the old management is about to mess up the relationship with the customer, there is a new factory manager. He starts turning the factory around and Jake shares all of the juicy stories with his coffee mate, Ben.
